“Looking at big and complex: from microtubule regulation to gene transcription”

My laboratory studies the architecture of large biological complexes and the structural basis for their regulation. We are applying cryo-electron microscopy and image analysis to characterize the structure and assembly of microtubules and their interaction with cellular factors and antimitotic ligands. We are also pursuing the structures of the eukaryotic, general transcriptional machinery and its interaction with activators, of large cofactors, and of chromatin remodeling complexes.
