The Appion Pipeline

A conceptual rendition of the processing of GroEL particles utilizing the Appion EM pipeline. Micrographs are processed immediately upon acquisition, passing through various processing nodes where the CTF is estimated, particles are picked and boxed, and multivariate statistical analyses are performed. Knobs on the processing centers allow for different methods or algorithms to be used at each step, and the results can be clearly viewed through the transparent connections. In this manner the data can be tracked intuitively through to the 3D reconstruction and resulting densities.
