Screenshot of the interface of a web-based particle selection tool. The interface can be used to select particles in a set of micrographs managed from a database, and also to compare the results of two different selections. The image shows the comparison between manually and automatically selected particles from a cryoelectron micrograph of keyhole limpet hemocyanin. We recently organized a controlled comparison amongst automatic particle selection algorithms as part of the activities of a workshop sponsored by NRAMM. The results from twelve selection algorithms can be viewed using the particle selection tool.
