Marine Bacteriophages

These images show bacteriophages found in samples of ocean water taken from Scripps Pier on 10 July 2006. The images demonstrate the diversity of phages in a small area. Phages are believed to be the catalysts of evolution since they are constantly exchanging DNA and learning more about them may be a window to the past and future. Amir Fakhrai a student at Bonita Vista High School and is part of the X-Sci program at TSRI.
