“New dyes and methods to study signaling in individual, living cells”

Klaus Hahn, Assoc. Professor -Department of Cell Biology, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA

Using solvatochromic dyes, it is possible to study the conformational changes and phosphorylation of proteins in their native environment. The development of new dyes designed to respond to protein behavior, and their application to ‘sense’ activity of endogenous, untagged proteins will be described.
