“How to make Victawet holey grids for cryo-electron microscopy (so you can stop taking mine)”
Chris Arthur, Research Assistant – Department of Cell Biology, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA
This will be a step-by-step look at how to make holey carbon films with holes approximately 2 microns in diameter.
The process uses a hydrophilic compound called Victawet as well as a polycarbonate membrane. These carbon films can be used in taking electron microscopy images of frozen hydrated specimens.
